A trip to the Okara Hotel (+31 20 678 7111) is a must.  This is where you will discover high-end drinks at high-end prices. Located in the south side of Amsterdam on Ferdinand Bolstraat, guests will be treated like royalty with attentive waiters preparing your favourite cocktail. For a panoramic view of Amsterdam I would advise you to head to the 23rd floor where as well as taking in the spectacular views, you will also able to enjoy drinks at the swanky bar.

The Vesper Bar (+31 20 846 4458) on Vinkenstraat, just off Haarlemmerstraat is where visitors after a busy day sightseeing will be able to enjoy expertly crafted cocktails in this elegant cocktail bar. You will notice the James Bond memorabilia on the walls accompanied by pop art prints and fine liqueurs Fantastic bar to try if it is a dose of sophistication you seek.

t’ Smalle (+31 20 623 9617) on Egelantiersgracht has a historic past and this is clear for everyone to see. Built in 1780 as a Hoope distillery but today it is popular, bustling bar which is located on one of Amsterdam’s prettiest canals. If you are visiting Amsterdam during the summer months get here early as there is usually a dash for seats outside. The 1780 feel is still alive and well in this Amsterdam bar.

Local Restaurants

When in Amsterdam for a few days definitely make a booking to dine at De Kas (+31 20 462 4562). Located at Kamerlingh Onneslaan, in an enormous glasshouse which is divided into two – one half for dining and the other  which allows the restaurants chefs and staff to grow their own fruit and vegetables, which could quite possible end up on your plate. If it is healthy food you are after and with a firm emphasis on fresh produce, this is the restaurant for you.

Enjoy a meal at Beddington’s (+31 20 620 7393) at Utrechtsedwarsstraat, which was opened by Chef Jean Beddington in 1983. Guests will be treated to delicious, wholesome fair with a combination of the chefs Derbyshire roots, Asian influences and modern Dutch twists. Enjoy the full view into the working kitchen and maybe catch a glimpse of your meal being prepared. This restaurant is the tops.
